Phillips Red Maximum Voltage       (born 4-11-2006 )

Max passed away in September of 2019 at the age of 13 years 5 months. He is the father of Ellie Mae, Zala, and Gibson and the grandfather to Reba and Sienna, who are all in our breeding program. He is also the father or grandfather of the majority of our puppies now living with wonderful families, as well as our own breeding poodles. Thus, I keep his photo up to show the family linage behind our breeding females.

          Max was a very dark red male with all black points who came to join our family in February of 2008 and kept his dark red color throughout the years.  He was a fabulous sire for us since he came here in 2008, and passed his much desired personality to his offspring.   Max was 27 inches at the shoulder and weighed about 66 pounds.  Although he was a large dog, he was very friendly, affectionate lap dog. He was also very good with our grandchildren, and good at traveling in the car. Max was friendly with everyone right from the first introduction. We were very blessed to have him with us, and we miss him greatly! Here are his testing results:
Hips: PennHIP test (reference #870342) revealed 0.31 right and 0.35 left laxities (an EXCELLENT result). His hip results place him in the 90th percentile of all Standard Poodles, meaning 90% of tested Standard Poodles have worse hips than him.
Ataxia (Neonatal Encephalopathy) DNA Results: "Normal" per University of MO AMGL Case 53858, meaning he does not carry the gene, so he cannot pass it to his offspring.
Von Willebrands DNA Results: "Clear"for the disease per VetGen Report 48587; meaning he can never get it and can't pass it to his offspring.
Sebaceous Adenitis: "Normal" per OFA PO-SA2365/19M-Pl

Dam: Raspberry Woods Jazzy Red Cedar (born 1-13-08 and passed 1-18-24) Lived a long healthy life of 16 years

 Cedar was a beautiful girl. She started as a medium red and lightened to a light red or reddish apricot as an adult; standing 25 inches at the shoulder and weighing 50 pounds.  Cedar loved chasing the birds and actually caught one in mid air.  She also loved to swim in the pond, chase geese and play keep away with her toys.  She was welcoming of new people, never aggressive, very gentle when taking treats and had a very soft bite with toys.  Her tail wagged continuously and her happy disposition brought us great joy.  Her desire to be close to us as much as possible made her a wonderful, cuddly pet.  She made many families happy with the 31 puppies she brought into this world, all sired by Max. She retired from breeding at age 6, and we kept one from her last litter, Ellie Mae, to carry on her production of good tempered puppies with beautiful conformation! Cedar has CERF verification for normal eyes and PennHip testing results 0.48 in the median percentiles with no radiographic evidence of hip dysplasia.

Dam: Raspberry Woods Amazing Scarlet Gracie( born 6/01/2010) (Gracie passed away in January of 2021, but I have kept her information because she is Gibson's mother.)

This is Gracie! Gracie came to us a very dark red and only lightened a little and remained a medium red color her whole life. Combined with Max, she produced 5 litters of very dark red puppies! Most of them have retained their red color and some have lighened to a lighter red. Her personality is very laid back and sweet, yet also loves to play and is very spunky and smart! She is a small standard standing 22 inches at the shoulder, weighing 49 pounds. She loves to retrieve toys, is a fabulous hunter and swims right out to us when we are in the water. She figured out on her own how to open our door to let herself in and out without our help! We're not sure we like this trick, but it shows her intelligence for sure! We love her dearly and you will too! She is small, but her DNA mixed with Max has resulted mostly in very large red standards, standing 26-29 inches at the shoulder and weighing 55-70 pounds. Our Gibson is one of their offspring. She also has two dark red offspring from Jesse when we did one dual sire litter.

Hips: PennHip testing - 0.47 left and 0.59 right laxities with no radiographic evidence of degenerative joint disease

Raspberry Woods Maximum Red Gibson: (born November 23, 2014)

Gibson is the son of Gracie and Max and has a sweet, gentle and friendly personality just like his parents. He loves the water and is a playful gentle giant. As an adult poodle, he is 29 inches at the shoulder and weighs 66 to 70 pounds. He grew to be bigger than his father and has kept a medium red coat. He lives with our son, daughter-in-law and our three grandsons. He has a fabulous temperament and is loved by anyone who meets him. Gibson sired litters from our Reba.

Raspberry Woods Red Elegance: "Ellie Mae" (born October 2, 2013) Ellie retired from breeding in November of 2020. She is Reba's mother.

Ellie Mae is a puppy from our Cedar and Max. She was a beautiful, solid, mahagony dark red with a soft and very curly coat until the age of two, at which time she faded to a lighter red. Her personality is calm and sweet. She is about 26 inches at the shoulder and weighs about 60 pounds. She has inherited her mother's beautiful straight and square stance with a high tail set and her father's long neck, beautiful conformation. Cinnfully Sweet Jesse James of Raspberry Woods: Born September 10, 2015

Jesse is a deep red color with all black points and has a very muscular square build! He is a sweet boy and loves being out side including swimming in our pond. He received his CGC certificate in September 2016 just after turning one year of age. Jesse was a dark mahogany red color until three years of age, but is now a medium red with darker red ears. He stands around 25 to 26 inches at the shoulder and weighs 65 pounds. Jesse sired puppies with our Gracie, Ellie Mae, Zala and one litter with River.

Penn Hip testing puts him in the top 10% or poodles for tight hips, an excellent reading: Distraction Index of 0.28 Left and 0.33 right

Maximum Sophine (so fine) Zala of Raspberry Woods: Born on September 2, 2017 from Sophia and Max, and her grandmother is Jazz. Max's info is above and you can read about Sophia and Jazz in the retired section at the bottom of this page. Zala is also the mother to our Sienna.

Zala is an African name meaning "Beautiful One," which fits her well, for she is a gorgeous red/apricot with deep black points! She is a sweet, friendly girl and a definite mix of her mother and father's personalities: spunky, yet easy to train. She has been a fabulous mother raising sweet babies. Zala stands 25 inches at the shoulder and weighs 54 pounds.

Zala's Jazzy Sienna of Raspberry Woods: Born November 18, 2022 . Sienna is the daughter of Zala and Apollo.

Sienna is not only beautiful in structure, color, coat and face, but she is spunky and fun! We love her! She loves going in the car, playing with the other poodles here, especially her grandmother, Sophia, and she loves playing with her ball. She is expressive, playful and cuddly. She also loves riding on the paddle boat with me in the summer. Sienna has black points and stands about 24 at the shoulder and weighs 46 pounds. She will have her first litter in the fall of 2024 or spring of 2025. We also have a new male coming soon who will sire her litters. Until then, I am looking for a quality red male to borrow for her first litter.
